From the Guardian:
Sarah Palin touted as US ambassador to Canada? You betcha!
From The Georgia Straight:
Justin Trudeau can reject the appointment of Sarah Palin as next U.S. ambassador to Canada
Or, as Kyle's Mum has been known to say on South Park:

"what, What, WHAT?".
My favourite reaction is George Takei's tweet: "In retaliation for the US sending Sarah Palin as its ambassador, Canada sends William Shatner as its envoy.
Who else might Justin send? I'm tired, and I'm only coming up with obvious ones like Justin Bieber and Celine Dion.
Like I said before Rick Mercer. And he can do the TV celeb -reality thing with a weekly talking to Americans thing.
Of course there is this Tyre article which points out the uncomfortable truth that Palin is more qualified for the presidency than the fellow who got the job.

I was thinking if there is any foundation to this rumour that we should consider sending them Rex Murphy... polysyllabic word salid in exchange for monosyllabic word salad.
Sarah Palin won’t be named U.S. ambassador to Canada: official
Thanks for the update Left Turn... on the one hand I feel a bit relieved, on the other I lament all the potential for gallows humour that has been lost.
If she'd been appointed, she'd probably have lost the job by trying to take all her guns through customs. I say that as a recovering Alaskan.
Well, she'd have got one of those nifty diplomatic pouches, though. Gotta be big enough for a Desert Eagle, at least.
