babble is rabble.ca's discussion board but it's much more than that: it's an online community for folks who just won't shut up. It's a place to tell each other — and the world — what's up with our work and campaigns.
Complaint culture
July 24, 2016 - 10:07pm
Why is everyone so quick to complain?
Why are we so selfish?
Someone looks at you the wrong way?
Trains don't run on time and we're outraged. Would you prefer the regime that made them run on time?
Traffic outrage is blamed on each other rather than our own lack of planning.
How did we not see this coming? Because we look to our own interests first rather than the collective.
Sorely lacking in public transit.
Why are we so selfish?....
I must assume, any people, any culture has every possible element...I live in various, and can see the range from the most caring and supportive, dedicated to the interests of the people the community...to the most self oriented...psychopathic.....
Given that our culture is just a melange of so many settler populations...the conclusion must be obvious...we are so self oriented in this culture, because of the system of rules we must live under, the technology that saturates our lives, the stress in the cities, the massive unemployment forcing us to buckle down to maintain our jobs....the finances, extracting every cent of disposable income from us, so living from paycheck to paycheck...yes it's the system!
Tinkering is a cruel hoax and a waste of our time...if we are serious about the ends, to live in a human justice culture, sensistive to the needs of our ecosystem....
And... why are they quick to complain about the trivial stuff that makes little difference in people's lives?
Great thread - and great to have you back in these parts, RP! Hope you're doing well.
