Elizabeth May Press Gallery speech
May 10, 2015 - 8:27pm
"Omar Khadr, you've got more class than the whole fucking cabinet,"
I love it!! does anyone have any links to the whole speech/song...media is only posting a one minute clip.

I haven't been able to find a video of the whole speech. But there is a description of it here: http://newstalk650.com/content/elizabeth-may-very-apologetic-about-speech
Oh there's lots of 'descriptions', none of them flattering and May herself has apparently apologized for it, but with an ending that superb, I too now want to hear more...in vino veritas maybe...
May managed to turn Harper's cabinet into the victim, when it should have been Omar Khadr.
She is a Tory.
Apparently Raitt leading May off stage was a preplanned part of the act, according to this site: http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canada/canadian-politics/omar-khadr-yo...
Only if you let them
And here's the funny part: Harper isn't
Great statement, and the akwardness of the moment could be forgiven, if the sentiment of the last line was sincere and not a bad attempt at recovering for an off colour "joke", adding insult to injury to embarassment.
Wow.
The current Conservative Part of Canada and it's members are not "Tory(ies)", and those who call them as such enable them to get votes they wouldn't otherwise get.
Getting back to the topic of thread, I really enjoyed Elizabeth May's comment, and part of me is disappointed that she apologized for it.
Another part of me is well aware that many people probably didn't like it, and the Conservatives may benefit from it.
I am not sure how to Raitt this performance.
Ironically, her failed attempt at humour that fell disastrously flat (that being, goody-two-shoes proper decorum May talks and talks becoming more agitated to the point where she swears at cabinet while ironically being kindly assisted by a cabinet minister), has given her more exposure and credit with many than had she done something that worked out to actually be funny.
Very awkward speech. It reminded me of a drunken wedding speech that makes everyone squirm in their seats.
I don't really buy the "I was sleep deprived" angle. I would if the speech was an improv speech, but it was clearly planned.
On Facebook, Dawn Black described it as "cringe worthy."
Sleep deprived is a polite way of putting it. Sharing wine with journalists will hit you harder when you're sleep deprived.
Doesn't help the green brand federally. Maybe she could run for Mayor of Toronto.
Will May have to resign over this - she should but I'm sure she won't.
She was obviously drunk out of her mind...what a horrific performance - and all coming from the most self-righteous, sanctimonious, prig in Canadians politics - Elizabeth May - next stop "the Gong Show"!
There were also those strange comments she made a few years ago comparing politicians who don't take action against climate change to Neville Chamberlain in Munich...and then saying with a straight face that unless she was elected to parliament "our planet would die" - barf!
Why should she?
Elizabeth May won't resign after Omar Khadr remarks

I don't mind so much that there was a brief moment of truth telling, but you don't get to tell the truth these days in the given politics and expect to walk away without an apology to the ones that brought you in on the charades.
The only way that Liz May ought to be in Ottawa, is on a tour bus.., On its way out
She was as funny as Rob Ford. If it were him making an ass of himself am pretty sure no-one here would be cheerleeding that

I was there and I can say that she didn't seem drunk to me.
Still, one hell of an exit line, despite her awful grovelling apology. The only thing better and more accurate would have been for her to say:
Omar Khadr, you've got more class than the whole fucking parliament!'
I think I'll write him in when I cast my ballot this time.
