Why?

The entire regime does not care about what the opposition thinks.

I will say that so long as Trump supporters like him he will stay.

Look at the lies eeryone else can see through. They are not trying to convince anyone else. So long as the people who voted Trump want to beleive the lies they will and so long as they do for this regime that is all that matters.

To think otherwise is to live back in the days when truth matter in the United States.

Trump is a religion It is not about fact, logic, or science. It is belief in their saviour. So long as that holds up the play is for those people not for the rest. The others can believe what they want -- they will only get bullying not any attempt at convincing. It is time people understood this becuase you cannot even start to come up with a response if you do not understand what you are looking at.

Let us count the ways Donald Trump lies. He lies about the crowd size at his own inauguration, but that isn't enough. His lies are so transparent that he stages a fake crowd of stooge supporters at the CIA to applaud his own lies about the crowd. In another country, which Trump rather admires, you'd call this a Potemkin village. But this took place at the CIA, which Trump previously accused of recreating Nazi Germany because they were investigating his Russian dependencies. Donald Trump's team defends 'alternative facts' after widespread protests After huge anti-Trump protests fill major US and world cities, president and key advisers push falsehoods about inauguration attendance.  Trump lies that he loves the CIA, that the press fabricated the dispute, and that he never had any dealings with Russia. Who needs a lie detector test when you can just watch the president's lips flapping?

Trump lies about the big stuff and the small stuff alike. He lies about the weather at his own inauguration. As if the weather, and all its divinely ordained raindrops, were some running commentary on his lack of legitimacy. As if we couldn't watch the rain falling on his fake tan on television. He lies about releasing his tax returns after the IRS audit is complete.

The difficult thing though is he lies becuase he can. The people who follow him are either okay with the lies as strategy or they believe them. Either way he can.

Boo Hoo! So he frigin' lies. He just happens to be President now and probably will be there for 8 years. And he is President because he promised jobs!!! Either you want to win the election or you don't. The right-wing do want to win, and are focused on that, and realize that winning is everything.

To address the question above more directly, I don't see Spicer lasting too long, because he's going to be undermined from within the west wing by vultures with thier eye on his job.  Being the voice of Trump (I'm reminded here of the mouth of Sauron from TLOTR but Sauron was cooler) is to be precariously employed.

This sounds more and more like an endorsement and excuses, rationalisations.

Let me be blunt: I don't want to win an election if it means promising to destroy the country and then keeping that promise.

The right do not think winning is everything -- nor do I. They have an agenda and I oppose it. If you think winning and not the agenda is the point then you are in the minority and not just here.

Frankly I care little about promises from a liar. I am more interested in what they will actually do. It will be interesting to see North Report 3.0 once Trump delivers the business agenda and the jobs are not there.

I do have another friend who swallowed Trump and bought the BS. That person also used to be left and now has tilted right -- so much so that there is no longer a belief in climate science. This propaganda from Trump is very powerful and pulling people who used to be capable of recognizing BS.

Trumps promises for workers includes jobs but his plans lead to misery, lower pay, fewer benefits, and in the end no more jobs.

North Report it is time you read past the headline.

I had not thought so much of those wanting his job. I wonder how many actually will as it is uncomfortable. Anyone near a person like Trump is not secure. At least he is less of a threat to people close to him as Stalin and Hitler were.

But the lies themselves or embarassment are not the problem which was the point I was making. This entire "movement" has no shame and no requirement for truth.

Thanks for showing your true colours. This is not a right wing board and endorsing fascism should get you banned. Yay,he ended TPP but he's also threatened a US city with martial law, increased taxes on the lower and middle class, oppressed the press and used executive order to destroy a woman's right to choose. Nevermind his 'alternative facts'. Yeah,he lies. And that is a big fucking deal.

Amen to that! And the real scary thing is all the people I talk to here in Canada who like him and think that he is doing good for the US. It is that kind of ignorance that could very easily get him re-elected again in four years which breaks my heart.

In some cities that would make an improvement (and them safer) right about now.

huh. you go straight to fascism for making people allegedly safe.

how about telling police to stop shooting black  people for no reason?

how about you support endeavours  to keep the 1% from stealing from the world's workers and resources?

Our president is a pathological liar. Say it. Write it. Never become inured to it.

I'm beginning to think Trump will be re-elected for a second term as he is making fools of the opposition. Follow the money folks as that is what politics is really all about, and look at that stock market go!

It will be four weeks tomorrow, since he was inaugurated.

Lemme guess:  you were already thinking the same thing three weeks ago.

The left instead of preparing a likeable alternative are flailing about waving their arms in all different directions oohing and aahhing about all Trump's lies. It doesn't matter whether or not Trump and his entourage lie, as they are politicians and are expected to lie The most of the business community are on board with the low tax Trump so get used to President Trump for the next 8 years

They've squandered the first four weeks, but there's still 204 weeks left for them to get their candidate in the public's face.  It's a tight deadline, for sure, but they could still pull it off.

Watching Trump's presser Trump wins hands-down against the media. The truth is of no consequence and if this continues he will get re-elected for a second term
