The Immigrant Worker Centre (IWC-CTI) in Montreal is working with a group of temporary foreign workers who were victims of wage theft. Their employer was deducting money from their salaries stating that he was paying himself back the recruitment fees and other fees related to their applications for new work permits. When they fought back, they spent up to three weeks in detention while the recruiter walked free.

In June 2012, President Obama enacted a new immigration plan that had the potential to give about two million undocumented youth a new and special legal status. Over 700,000 people are part of this program.

It provided youth who qualified with the right to obtain a driver's licence, a work permit, a social security number which could be used to apply for grants and scholarships, and an ability to leave the country and return free from detention. However, it also meant that a lot of personal information about the youth and their families was submitted to Homeland Security.

Just another example of the mundane racism we see south of the border estabilishing itself here, and just another racist incident in recent months. The interesting thing was the poster included a list of alt-right sites in Canada. Work against these sites and the hate they promote

The Tiwana family has been running a motel in Bashaw, Alberta for decades. On October 12, racial slurs were found on their hotel and the hotel was burned to the ground in a suspicious fire. One person is dead and three are injured. In a matter of minutes the Tiwana family lost everything -- their home, their business, their belongings and unconfirmed reports say that the person who died is the father of the Tiwana household.

The women's boat to gaza was 35 nautical miles (65 kilometers) from their destination when it was diverted to an Israeli port by the Navy. Today there has also been Israeli bombing in Gaza.

This SOS message went out from the boat before it was boarded. "Work for the freedom and human rights, the lifting of the blockade against the people of Gaza. And for the freedom for the Palestinian people and peace in the Middle East, " says Nobel Peace Laureate Mairead Maguire. "We can all do this together. It's not a dream."
