http://rabble-6.rabble.ca/babble/election-2015/question-about-alexandre-boulerice

I have a question. First let me preface this with the fact that I didn't even know who Alexandre Boulerice was until during the election. I still don't know that much about him. I'm certainly not arguing that he should, or should not, run for leadership of the NDP or win said leadership if he does run.

What I do know is this. Every time Alexandre Boulerice's name comes up he gets complemented as a quality leadership candidate but dismissed because he "is a separatist." In this context, "is a separatist" means he admitted to voting for Quebec to separate from Canada in 1995, and donated to QS.

http://rabble-6.rabble.ca/babble/election-2015/question-about-alexandre-boulerice#commentselection 2015Sat, 14 Nov 2015 00:23:50 +0000Cody87121554 at http://rabble-6.rabble.caNDP leaders suffer no consequences for big losses: Left Chapter blog

The most common prediction ahead of last month’s Canadian election was that the country’s many polling firms would again fail to predict the results. In the event, most of them accurately foresaw Justin Trudeau’s Liberals sweeping into power. Instead, it was the country’s daily newspapers that got it wrong, promoting the incumbent Conservatives while readers and voters turned en masse against the party. Social media pounced on the striking disconnect with increasing ferocity as editors in virtually every Canadian city and town published tortured endorsements of Stephen Harper’s government.

OTTAWA - The New Democratic Party should drop the word "new," says former MP Peter Stoffer.

The 18-year veteran politician, who lost his East Coast riding last week, suggests the New Democrats should consider becoming the Democratic party.

"It is a simple change, it's superficial ... but if you just call yourselves the Democrats ... people can digest that very easily," he said.

Stoffer, who was among those who pushed for structural party reform in 2001, also favours separating the federal and provincial wings of the NDP....

WINNIPEG – Aboriginal activists who spent months mobilizing First Nations communities say Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s attempt to disenfranchise aboriginal voters backfired and fuelled turnout so high that some reserves ran out of ballots.

Some aboriginal communities saw voter turnout spike by up to 270 per cent in the Oct. 19 election despite the Fair Elections Act which made it harder for someone to vote without approved identification.

In the riding of Kenora, which includes 40 First Nations in northern Ontario, voting on the reserves was up 73 per cent – almost 3,000 voters. At least four of those First Nations ran out of ballots and either used photocopies or waited for more to be brought in.
