It is readily available at Amazon.ca I recommend the Kindle version as you will be highlighting like crazy. Johnstone has the goods on Clinton, and must be stopped.

Hello bbc members! This is the official thread for our April 2014 selection, Joseph Boyden’s The Orenda. Our final discussion will take place on Tuesday April 22nd at 8pm EDT/5pm PDT

Here is a snippet from the book jacket summary of the novel:

The Orenda opens with the kidnapping of Snow Falls, a spirited Iroquois girl with a special gift. Her captor, Bird, is and elder and one of the Huron Nation’s great warriors and statesmen. In Snow Falls, Bird recognized the ghost of his lost daughter; he sees that the girl possesses powerful magic, something useful to him and his people on the troubled road ahead. Up next: 'Salt: A World History' by Mark Kurlansky with a final discussion date of March 21 at 2pm EST where more users will be online to discuss the book in real time, but of course, conversation and discussion is encouraged throughout the reading time.

This book is a bit of a departure for the bbc, or at least according to the cover. Why? Well, it's about salt. Not politics, not CanLit, not activism, but salt. But of course, in the hands of a good writer, who knows what the wonderful topic, and seasoning, salt will bring us!

Our next selection is The Inconvenient Indian by Thomas King and the final discussion date will be Friday January 17 at 2:00 p.m. EST RIGHT HERE on this thread.

Discussion encouraged before (and after!) the final date -- it is the advantage of an online book club.

We've already discussed the potential availability problems with this selection, so if you are having trouble let us know, and we'll try to figure something out!

babble book club reading schedule

The babble book club's thread for the upcoming reading schedule is maintained on this thread. We will still use the babble book club: upcoming selection ideas thread to generate ideas, so this baby doesn't get too crowded.

The schedule rotates between fiction and non-fiction selections, and reading time lasts around a month. So, if you miss one, you can easily pick up for the next!

As mentioned, I'll try to figure out how to schedule things on our facebook group as well, which will require knowledge of the internet and social media, so that's a maybe.

Any and all updates will be added here for everyone to refer to for their reading!
