This was a discussion of what happened at a Halifax Pride meeting, in which straight people took over the meeting to prevent the adoption of an anti-"pinkwashing" motion proposed by a LGBTQ Arab group.

In reaction to it, a Holocaust denier and a supposed "class struggle" supporter have tried to tie the question of dissenting about Israeli treatment of Palestinians to their revisionist(denialist) views on the Holocaust.

I've tried to stand up to them, but they won't stop.

This holiday season, rabble.ca is partnering with Aboriginal Legal Services of Toronto to provide the tools to make reconciliation a reality in Canada.

We're taking the calls to action from the TRC, and showing how ordinary folks can make them come to life. There were 94 calls to action.

http://rabble-6.rabble.ca/babble/rabble-news-features/austerity-neoliberalism-tactic-to-their-limited-success-to-cut-social-pr
Earlier this week I sat through a very two dimensional discussion of austerity politics. I believe we do disservice when we describe neoliberalism as benefit cuts to the social state. I believe it is much more.

I suppose that in the arguments about "austerity" necessitating more cuts is in large part a response to successful challenges in the limitations to access to benefits enacted by neoliberal governments.

Neoliberal rhetoric argues that "big government" and "high taxation" strangles economic growth. They also assert that The public sector is bloated and inefficient.
http://rabble-6.rabble.ca/babble/rabble-news-features/austerity-neoliberalism-tactic-to-their-limited-success-to-cut-social-pr#commentsrabble news featuresThu, 28 May 2015 19:12:21 +0000[email protected]118272 at http://rabble-6.rabble.caWe've already forgotten Lac-Mégantic - Québec election day
http://rabble-6.rabble.ca/babble/rabble-news-features/weve-already-forgotten-lac-m%C3%A9gantic-qu%C3%A9bec-election-day

This seems like just so much Toronto. Everyone (including corporations, but why not children or other creatures who depend on us who are at least sentient beings) can choose to meet our reduce-pollution responsibility which we have whether we like it or not and work towards a greener, cleaner life but we must pay more for it thanks to all the corporate bend-overs infesting Canada's government, so it's "I can't afford it" meanwhile they have at least one vehicle making the air cancerous, or it's "why should I pay?" and the middle class waits for the rich to take the lead. I think it's because not enough people with money have children and so they just don't care if Earth's habitable for humans after they're gone.

Over the past few weeks the Minister of Democratic Reform has been trying to defend his crappy bill inside parliament as well as out. Justin Ling who is a freeland reporter has been a thorn in his side writing pointed articles about the flaws and stupidity of the bill.

I guess he was able to interview the Minister over the weekend.

Would have liked to have been a fly on the wall to listen because sounds like it was testy.

Not sure if the Minister will finally listen to everyone else and hold open meetings across the country.

This is just a ruse to cover-up all of the illegal campaign acts the CPC has engaged in over the past two elections. Picking up where the Liberals left off with throwing money to win votes.

Today the gov't closed debate on a bill that is suppose to strengthen our democracy. Garbage.
