Kyle Curlew is a MA student in the Sociology of Surveillance at Queen's University, an amateur journalist and an academic activist. His primary goal in writing is to translate issues of surveillance and technology that have been highlighted in the academy to the public. His academic research is directly focusing on forms of social control and surveillance that can be utilized through algorithmic design in social media. These are issues that are seldom highlighted by activists as most of these practices are meant to be hidden. Furthermore, as a writer and aspiring journalist, Kyle has written quite extensively about surveillance for the Queen's Journal.
