Pakistan and Afghanistan share a porous border, crossed by people, ideologies, and wars. Nafisa Hoodbhoy, a longtime journalist and author from the region situates women's rights in an unstable territory, including U.S. efforts at intervention.  

Pakistani journalist Nafisa Hoodbhoy is the author of Aboard the Democracy Train: A Journey Through Pakistan's Last Decade of Democracy, and a former regional correspondent for WINGS. She is currently a well known host for Urdu-language radio and TV.  Her book and blog can be found at www.aboardthedemocracytrain.com
