Yes, they were Black. Suppose they could have from been another racialized group. The "agitated" young man was armed with a ... baseball bat. The middle-aged woman was killed completely by accident.

The other very sad and outrageous thing is that these stories have become almost routine...

Here is an update from Chicago that the Onion couldn't even have made up. A Chicago cop is suing the family of a black teenager he killed. Yep, it seems to be the same incident:

City officials apologised for the death of Bettie Davis, 55, but have said Quintonio LeGrier's shooting was justified.

Remember, the agitated young man was armed with a basebal bat. Yes, you can kill someone with a baseball bat, but police are supposed to know how to deal with this kind of situation involving people in mental distress.

That was a summary of a longer story in French, from Agence France Presse: http://www.lapresse.ca/international/etats-unis/201601/29/01-4945230-un-...

I hope that Sammy Yatim didn't die in vain and that tragedy leads to cops understanding that their guns do not give them licence to kill.

I better or we will be as bad as the land of the gun in a few years. The momentum to get in bed with the US that was created by Harper can't be stopped quickly with our change in government.
