babble is rabble.ca's discussion board but it's much more than that: it's an online community for folks who just won't shut up. It's a place to tell each other — and the world — what's up with our work and campaigns.

Before the last election, I contacted the Green Party to lend my services. Free labour. My impression was that they didn’t seem to care to utilize any able-bodied, computer literate person, they could get their hands on. Even something as inexpensive, and lazy, as “Say why you like the party on any social media account” was too much for them to ask.

“Canadian Security Intelligence Service”?

I get the joke. But that’s a subtle bullying tactic to discourage people. We have enough harassment in society to discourage people from taking interest in progressive action, or communicating with other progressives.

I’ll take the comment as a recommendation for you ideal activist group and site, “prioritize anonymity”. Also policy area of interest, to promote or change laws. “secure online anonymity.” “prevent data collection of non violent.”

Dimmed Diamond - although there is a small risk I am totally misinterpreting him, I don't think it is really all that accurate to characterize Mr. Magoo as being subtle about, well, pretty much anything. From a place of deep affection I would point out that Magoo is actually quite similar to certain other babblers (me for example) whose preferred approach to comedy is very similar to that of the Tom and Jerry cartoons, with the joke delivered with one of those huge stage mallets Jerry uses to clobber Tom.

@Magoo: I am sure I don't need to spell out that my remarks are intended as back handed compliment. My foreswing is pretty good too. Care for an Irish stand-off?Tongue out

@ bagkitty.  If you'd like him banned again, email me.  I'd like to do it myself just for old times sake.

Is that like a Mexican stand-off, but with whiskey?

@oldgoat, heaven forbid, if you ban Magoo, I am like the first runner up for person most likely to act badly - which means you might contemplate banning me. Magoo is my canary in a coal mine... didn't you catch the reference to my speaking from a place of deep affection?

I also thought if I was going to be banned, it would be Maysie *waves to Maysie* who did it... if she can remember her old passwords.

@Mr. Magoo... an Irish stand-off doesn't involve firearms or other weapons - It is decided by taking altenating open-handed roundhouse slaps between the two parties to the dispute - Last one standing wins (and yes, whiskey definitely influences who is the last one standing).

Leave. Magoo. Alone. It took too much energy getting him back last time.

And oldgoat: Remember, banning begins at home.

Did I present this threads topic poorly - pushing users away - or are the users here just not interested in the topic?

Or is there a similar thread users are active in?
