Bob Welch, a former member of Fleetwood Mac who went on to write songs and record several hits during a solo career, died Thursday of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said. He was 65.
Police spokesman Don Aaron said Welch's wife found him with a chest wound at their south Nashville home around 12:15 p.m.

Lesley Brown, 64, who lived in Whitchurch, Bristol, made history in July 1978 when her daughter Louise was born at Oldham General Hospital.
Mrs Brown had been trying for a baby with her husband John for nine years before she became the first woman to give birth following IVF treatment.
She died at the Bristol Royal Infirmary on 6 June with her family by her side, it has been announced.

A massive loss. I had the chance to see him speak in Olympia, Washington, last fall(he was doing a speaking tour)but passed it up due to a family engagement. If I'd known he was that sick, I'd have ditched the relatives and gone anyway.

John Plater, advocate for tainted blood victims, died on Saturday July 28. I worked with him as a camp counsellor when we were teenagers. He was a great guy with a great sense of humour.

Scott McKenzie, who sang the 1960s hit San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair), has died aged 73.
The singer was a close friend of Mamas and Papas star John Phillips, who wrote and produced the San Francisco track.
Released in May 1967, it became a global hit and an anthem for the 1960s counterculture movement.

It is with incredible sorrow that I write to share the news that we lost Neil
Smith in the early hours of this morning. He had been hospitalized on Wednesday
afternoon with organ failures, and despite some moments of hope, could not
greet another day with us. Words cannot describe this sudden tragedy. Neil was
larger than life, brilliant, an inspiration and loved by so many.
