Greetings From Plan Nine North
Hello, after reading this forum for a short time I decided that I would like to float some ideas for the upcoming Federal election to a group of forward thinking people.
I hope that others will be able to improve on these ideas.
Now just a short background about me.
I have never been a fan of any particular party but I miss the days of the "Clarkies". Even the antics of Cops and Crosby displayed a kinder level of decorum than that seen in the past few years. I have often wondered if some Conservative backbenchers have muttered the expression "Shame Mr. Speaker, shame" in reference to members of their own party.
I believe in equal rights and respect for all people. However, all political leaders need a good shot of sarcasm once in a while to help ward off complacency. I like the idea of trying to preserve and possibly improve democracy for future generations.
It is unwise to threaten the pillars of a society just to build pipelines faster.
I have no interest in bandying minor points with other users just for the sake of believing that my opinion might represent the best option. I might express my $0.05 whenever I can add something to the conversation, so do not expect too much from me.
Despite the user name I have no intention of talking about movies or space aliens but some of my ideas might be considered "out there". Life can get too depressing if you cannot poke some fun at yourself from time to time.
Plan Nine - "What could go wrong with a movie called Plan Nine?"
Plan 9 from Outer Space
I watched Plan 9 on local TV that ran the same movie for a week, every day in the same time slot. I would have been about 10, and probably watched it every day. Quite likely repeated the experience another year(s).
Welcome!
@KenS
Thank you for your feedback.
Plan 9 might have been a good movie if the production was given more resources and it might have made a great science fiction book.
To some people the movie represents an absolute flop and bears the brunt of many jokes. Some people find inspiration in the story of Ed Wood.
To me the movie represents the desire to tell a story but not having the financial means. It also represents the ability to find a good message amid a flood of negative reviews.
I have no illusions on how many people are going to hear what I have to say so I might as well poke fun at my attempts to make Canada a better nation. I will keep trying with the enthusiasm of Ed Wood.
Perhaps in another thread/topic someone could raise the following point (and please try to remove the movie references).
In the figurative sense during the next Federal Election, will people be talking about an anti-destruction message found in "Plan 9" or the propaganda of something like "Pipeline Crusaders of The West"? If such a film is ever created then it can be expected to be well funded.
I am not totally against pipelines but I detest what I like to call the "bulldoze first and ask questions later" approach used by the government.
