babble is rabble.ca's discussion board but it's much more than that: it's an online community for folks who just won't shut up. It's a place to tell each other — and the world — what's up with our work and campaigns.

Hello, everyone!

Having now been a member of Rabble (love the name - inspired my self-mocking 'handle' - I'm really pretty mild) for about a month, I realize that I should introduce myself. I'm enjoying the various conversations and have contributed a few times - moving into a post-FB phase! So - be chatting with you.

Welcome Andy! Just so you know, the default address for babblers is already "Red" -- so I see that "Red bagkitty" and "Red onlinediscountanvils" have already said hello. I guess that means we'll call you "Red Red Andy." I hope that suits.

Red is best,

That said, you will also find a fair bit of orange, purple, pink and green around here, too. Individually, or rainbow-style. Not so much black these days, since Kropotkin went on leave.

And no brown. Definitely no brown.

Alrighty, then. I'm down with that - and up with red!

And black. Of the anarchist variety, not the Italian fascist one. In particular the IWW black cat, and the red and black flag of the CNT.

Ah yes. The Wobblies. One doesn't hear them invoked much anymore. But can you still sing Solidarity Forever?

Ha! - now here's a coincidence, lagatta: I happen to be in Barcelona this week for work related meetings. And had a glorious, sunny Sunday walking around the city absorbing the sights and atmosphere. The dominant flag flying across the city at the moment is the Catalan national flag, - given the fervour around the contested independence / secessionist referendum scheduled for this weekend.  But will keep an eye open for the CNT banner as I wander about in my nightly pursuit of cava and tapas!

I'm always chuffed to be included in the party, but full disclosure; I'm a Red in mane only. I'd hate to tarnish Red bagkitty and Red Catchfire by association. My politics are a decidely darker hue.

well at least I wasn't referred to as purple, I have always considered purple to be the ugly child of the spectrum

but I am a stripey kitty, red and black...

Pardon my tardiness but welcome to babble Red! Let me know if I can be of assistance.

Hi Red Andy.  Are you liberal red, or perhaps of the other political persuasion traditionally associated with red?  Or maybe you're seeing red from being flummoxed by politics more generally?

Slumberjack.... you forgot the possibility that Red Andy is one of our American cousins... although perhaps not likely, I haven't detected the odor of brimstone...

You're right.  I hadn't counted on one of those signing up, at least with an interest in 'various conversations.'

Thank you, Meg-the-mod and hello, Slumberjack and bagkitty. Interesting handles all. I'm afraid mine is much more mundane - so I have to laugh at the suggestions. American? God, no. Liberal Red? More like Left-Of-Liberal Red and/or seeing red at Harper Fascism, Tea Party/Republican Fascism, ad infinitum. Used to think small c conservatism was an honorable word; you know, like conserving resources, being conservative in response (ie. being measured - not over-reacting). Anyway, mostly I'm poking fun at myself for ranting as if I have something to say. And so on.

Очень хорошо! Было ли это слово «красный», что предал меня?

Хороший, хороший, хороший. Yeah, that must have been it. Then again, "Восток красен".
