On Saturday March 5, thousands of people took to the streets of Toronto for the International Women's Day 2016 Rally, Fair and March.

The march was part of a global day on March 8 celebrating the achievements of women and this year's Toronto event named "All Women Rise Up" focused on three principles: No to violence and hate: Rise to reconciliation now; No to racism and Islamophobia: Black Lives Matter; and no to poverty: Justice on the job.

International Women's Day (8 March) is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. In some places like China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria, International Women's Day is a national holiday.

IWD has been celebrated for more than 100 years. In Toronto, IWD has traditionally been a rally and march, and is organized by a committee of social justice, labour, health and women's rights activists.

Watch rebroadcast of the March 7 rally and march below. This event was held starting 11:00 AM, at OISE Auditorium, 252 Bloor St West in Toronto.
