Activists from around the world are converging upon Montreal this week for the World Social Forum.

The first World Social Forum was held in Brazil in 2001 to provide a way for people to connect with others who also believe a better world is possible.

This year marks the first time that the Forum has been held in the Global North.

The Forum officially begins tomorrow and the rabble podcast team will be on the ground recording speakers, interviewing activists and bringing the Forum to people who can't be there in person.

There are also events and conferences set up which run concurrently with the World Social Forum around specialized themes.  One of those conferences is the World Forum of Free Media, held at McGill University.

rabble podcast network executive producer was there today with David Kattenburg, publisher of The Green Planet Monitor. They bring some of the voices and ideas from the World Forum of Free Media in the first podcast from this week in Montreal.
