Notice and what? Explaining the copyright 'Notice Trio'

There's a set of confusing phrases you may have heard floating around the Internet on digital rights or intellectual property blogs -- or maybe it was that one time you tried to actually read the terms and conditions?

Today we're going to dig into what we're calling "The Notice Trio." These ones:

Stephen Harper: As authentic as he gets

Pre-screened questions, pre-scripted answers, and a pre-taped interview. That, in essence, is as authentic as Stephen Harper gets.

The 'much' anticipated You Tube question and answer session with the Prime Minister was supposed to allow Harper to avoid the (alleged) filter of traditional media, so instead it was fed to Canadians through the filter of the PMO.

It also conveniently allowed Harper to avoid answering questions he didn't pre approve, and rehearse answers to. Harper also didn't have the inconvenience of follow up questions, in the event he failed to address the query put to him.

Instead, Harper opted for a cozy chair, in a secure environment, separated from the very Canadians who elected him.

Friends of CBC campaign video from Saskatoon

Hi. 

Here's a video I made about the Conservative candidate in the Saskatoon-Rosetown-Biggar and how she's trying to avoid speaking to voters and meeting with citizen groups during the election campaign. 

 

Basically we hunted her down at a Conservative party pep rally when Stephen Harper came to town and taped the results.  I made this video while working on the Friends of Canadian Broadcasting project.

Saskatoon-Rosetown-Biggar candidate caught on tape -> posted on youtube!

Hi. 

Here's a video I made about the Conservative candidate in the Saskatoon-Rosetown-Biggar and how she's trying to avoid speaking to voters and meeting with citizen groups during the election campaign.  I made this video while working on the Friends of Canadian Broadcasting project.

What are you going to ask Harper on YouTube?

So, I was just reading about Google's "Your interview with Prime Minister Harper" initiative and am curious to see what you folks think of it. It is Harper's way of going directly to "the people" without that messy intermediary of the media, which we all know he wishes didn't exist.  I mean, as we saw around the prorogration, he can't even count on the right-wing media to support him anymore.
