Canada Post 'has no problem lying to the public' says CUPW president

"We're extremely disappointed with the behaviour of Canada Post at the bargaining table," Mike Palecek, president of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) told rabble.

During CUPW's media conference on Tuesday, Palecek sat down with rabble for a one-on-one interview to discuss Canada Post Corporation serving 50,000 workers a lockout notice, its refusal to negotiate fairly and address the real issues, and misinformation that has been circulating in the public.

"We're dealing with an unscrupulous employer. They have no problem lying to the public and they have been untruthful about the real [financial situation] facing Canada Post for years," Palecek told the crowd.

Over 10,000 signed "Make the Review Public" postcards were delivered to Raitt's office, calling for the government to adhere to the terms of its Charter and conduct a public review of the post office.

Newly revealed documents show the government is considering privatizing Canada Post

After repeated denials from the Conservative government that service cuts and rate hikes at Canada Post have anything to do with privatization, we now know the opposite to be true.
