Scientists declare new geological epoch, the Anthropocene

Geologists say that humanity's impact on the Earth has been so profound that it's ushered in a whole new, deeply unstable, geological era, which they are calling the Anthropocene. Ian Angus is an author and editor of the website Climate and Capitalism. His most recent book is titled Facing the Anthropocene: Fossil Capitalism and the Crisis of the Earth System. Ian Angus speaks with Redeye host James Mainguy.
