Canada Post 'has no problem lying to the public' says CUPW president

"We're extremely disappointed with the behaviour of Canada Post at the bargaining table," Mike Palecek, president of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) told rabble.

During CUPW's media conference on Tuesday, Palecek sat down with rabble for a one-on-one interview to discuss Canada Post Corporation serving 50,000 workers a lockout notice, its refusal to negotiate fairly and address the real issues, and misinformation that has been circulating in the public.

"We're dealing with an unscrupulous employer. They have no problem lying to the public and they have been untruthful about the real [financial situation] facing Canada Post for years," Palecek told the crowd.

WATCH: a conversation about BDS with Gabor Mate, Mira Sucharov and more

Four Jewish panelists (one Israeli and three Canadians) discuss the pros and cons of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign against Israel.

The campaign arose from a call in 2005 by various Palestinian civil society groups to exert worldwide pressure on Israel to treat its Palestinian citizens with full equality, to end the occupation of Arab lands, and to comply with provisions of international law regarding the rights of Palestinian refugees.

The four panelists:

Michael Barkusky - Economist, accountant and political activist in South Africa (1970-77) and Canada (1989 - present)

Gabor Mate - Vancouver physician and author

Yonatan Shapira - Israeli peace activist

WATCH: How do we get Canadians to care about climate change? Radicalize it.

All the countries in the world have agreed that we can't let the global temperature grow more than two degrees before we're in big trouble. But we're on track for a hike of six degrees. The last time that happened, 95 per cent of the planet's species were wiped out. So how do we get Canadians to take climate change seriously?

Citizen Vrooman has some ideas.

Watch LIVE September 18: Young, Canadian and Muslim - Making Our Ballots Count!

On October 19th, 2015, Canadians across the country will take to the polls to vote 338 representatives into federal office. Canadian Muslims, members of a growing and diverse group in this country, will be doing so as well. However, despite the fact that Muslim communities have existed in Canada for many years now, a number of young Canadian Muslims report an increasing sense of alienation and dissatisfaction with the system.

In recognition of the need to highlight the voices of these youth, ‘Young, Canadian and Muslim: Making Our Ballots Count!’ was created by a concerned group of young people.  The debate will take place Friday, September 18th in Toronto, starting at 6:30PM ET. Watch LIVE below!
